Matthew Bissen

Matthew Bissen is an architect and urban geographer practicing in the Pacific Northwest, and a part-time faculty member in the Department of Architecture. His research work centers around questions of human agency within the built environment. How concepts of nature, ecology, and social structures produce, in conjunction with, design and everyday practice our urban environment. This research also informs his teaching. Two recent examples include the development of an interdisciplinary studio focused on The Right to the City – Social Justice along the Jackson Street Corridor and contributions to the book Out of the Ruins on horizontal pedagogy.
