Alex Ianchenko
Alex Ianchenko is a research engineer at the UW Department of Architecture who works on project CITYFOOD with the CCLS. Her focus is on the built environment perspective to urban agriculture; she continues to investigate this angle on UA through projects that range from potential site identification for rooftop greenhouses to interviews with members of the building sector who have been involved with urban farms. Leveraging her background as a research assistant with the Carbon Leadership Forum, Alex often brings a data-driven life cycle perspective to critically evaluate the sustainability of controlled environment agriculture. She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Architectural Design from the University of Washington, and a minor in Danish. Alex’s capstone project on the role of architecture in intersection with other sectors continues to drive her work with the CCLS, as she works towards future cities that sustain and inspire.
